Energy infrastructure under attack in the region
Ukraine's power facilities have come under escalating strikes in the past few days

During the night, Russian missile and drone strikes have resulted in blackouts in extensive areas of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv.

Nine people were injured while inhabitants in eastern neighborhoods were plunged into darkness and faced disruption to water systems, according to municipal leaders.

Simultaneously, a young boy was killed in a separate aerial attack in the Zaporizhzhia region in the southern area, based on information from regional authorities.

Russian forces has escalated assaults on energy facilities over the last fortnight, while the country's government has called for "real steps" from international partners to increase pressure on Moscow.

"The necessity is not window dressing but strong steps - from the US, Europe and the G7 - in supplying defensive weapons and enforcing restrictions," he wrote in a public message.

Authorities reported that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and more than 30 projectiles struck Ukraine's energy infrastructure, labeling such strikes as "cynical and calculated" and against "critical infrastructure" as winter approaches.

Government representatives said Moscow was "launching a major assault" and maintenance teams were working to repair systems.

A series of attacks struck electrical systems and apartment buildings in the capital.

Multiple people hurt in the attacks on the capital have been transported for medical care, as confirmed by city authorities.

Local officials said the city experienced significant strikes overnight. A minor lost their life and three other people were wounded.

The attacks succeed evenings of bombing campaigns in the area, parts of which are currently controlled by invading troops.

The entire country is in a state of readiness for advanced weapon attacks, which are tougher to identify.

National leaders told the media that Russia was purposely seeking to demolish the electrical infrastructure, with assaults already affecting fuel infrastructure.

Authorities confirmed technical personnel and authorities were anticipating additional strikes.
